LMSs allow training providers to create and manage extensive online courses. Integrated tools make it possible to easily provide content, carry out exercises and support users, who work through the available content either alone or in groups and can communicate both with each other and with the trainers using wikis, blogs, fora, chat and e-mail, among other things. Various management functions help both sides maintain an overview of the progress of their courses. The market includes both commercial and open source LMS such as ILIAS, Moodle or OLAT.
