HLA is based on the idea of dividing an overall simulation into several smaller simulations that exchange information with each other. They communicate with each other over a computer network. The individual simulations are managed by a central component, the so-called “run-time infrastructure” (RTI).

HLA technology enables the efficient simulation of complex scenarios with a wide range of parameters.
