Full simulator
= virtual reality (VR) implemented using a realistic reconstruction of a machine, vehicle or human body
Full simulators (also known as full-scale simulators or full mission simulators) mimic the behaviour of the device they are modelled on, using, for example, hydraulic systems. The surroundings of the simulator are represented with screens or projectors. The user controls the simulator with replicas of the original operating devices. This form of display and interaction affects users’ immersion (sense of being surrounded) and presence (sense of being present). Full simulators can also be combined with desktop VR and tracking systems.
The disadvantage of full simulators is that they are always more expensive and less flexible than desktop VR.
