Simulations reduce CO2 emissions by 98 %

Using our simulation systems for training purposes does not only help to save original equipment, reduce accident risks and save money. This training method also “quite incidentally” reduces lots of CO2 emissions.
We have calculated this, using the example of the simulation for the “Improved Ribbon Bridge” (IRB), which is in use at the German Army:
To build a medium-sized bridge with the original system, four motor boats and four trucks are required, which consume approximately 360 litres of Diesel fuel per hour altogether. If you multiply this value with 2,630 grams of CO2 which are emitted per litre of burned Diesel, it sums up to almost one metric ton of CO2 per system operation hour.
If the bridging engineer team uses the simulation instead, there also is CO2 emitted for the generation of the required electric current. However, the almost 25 kilowatts consumed by the simulation system multiplied with 520 grams of CO2 per kilowatt hour which are emitted by average when generating the electricity equals only slightly more than 12 kgs of CO2 emissions per operating hour. This is less than 2 % of the emissions caused by the original system.
If you want to reproduce this calculation example, here are the values our calculation is based on:

On April 15th, 2011, the szenaris team celebrated the first two years of the company’s existence. On this occasion, the two company owners and managing partners, Klaus Bock-Mueller and Dr. Uwe Katzky, were surprised by the team with a birthday cake. The anniversary was not the only reason to celebrate, though: the total of incoming orders of 700,000 € for the first quarter of 2011 has exceeded the expectations by far.
With this total of incoming orders, the anniversary celebration became a great confirmation for the success of the young Bremen-based company. The team has thereby achieved a first important aim for the business year 2011. The szenaris employees are proud of this success and the confidence the customers put in them. “We will do everything necessary to further improve the quality of our products and make our customers even more satisfied”, say the two managing partners of szenaris. ...

Global success through professional services – to achieve this objective, the IT industry uses new training and education concepts. Within the “GlobePro” project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, szenaris is developing several learning modules on Globalisation and has now released the introductory module online for anyone interested.
The module “Globalisation – an issue for everybody?” is one of eight modules which will be integrated in an information- and learning platform in the future. They are mainly aimed at IT specialists and apprentices.

Respiratory Devices learning program awarded on the CeBIT

The learning program “Respiratory Devices” has already been awarded the vebn (Verband eLearning Business Norddeutschland) seal of quality. Now, szenaris GmbH also received the vebn award, which is awarded to the best solutions among the seal of quality winners, for this Computer Based Training (CBT) program.
Edith Belz and Ralf Mohring received the award on the CeBIT 2011 in Hannover on behalf of szenaris.
With 90 % of the maximum points, szenaris again proved its competence as a developer of high-quality learning programs. This was the conclusion of the jury, who tested the program thoroughly and acknowledged its practical orientation. The szenaris team is proud of the quality seal and award, but still aims to raise the quality level even more.

Certification confirms the high quality standards of szenaris GmbH

To be able to develop the best possible solutions for its customers, the services of the szenaris GmbH are always subject to the highest quality standards. These aspirations have now been officially recognised by a DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 compliant certification.
Even small and medium-sized companies are currently trying to meet the global competition and the resulting cost pressure by introducing a quality management system. All too often, such measures are focusing on the marketing factor of the certificate rather than on the actual quality assurance. When szenaris began to implement the ISO norm in the end of 2010, the employees consciously decided on a cooperative approach. “We do not want to simply put a certificate on the wall, we want to live up to our quality management system”, emphasises CEO Klaus Bock-Müller. szenaris was energetically supported by Georg Flammersberger of “digitalPROCESS & greenQuality”.
Since quality development is a continuous process rather than a self-contained event, szenaris is constantly improving its quality concept. Thus, the employees do not only implement the few recommendations from the certification audit. In fact, they reflect their own quality awareness in a cycle consisting of planning, performing, controlling and acting on a regular basis. This is what the customers benefit from in the long run, says Birgit Neumann, quality management commissioner: “The more we are aware of the factors which constitute the quality of our work, the more benefits do our customers get from this process.” ...
