KI-SIGS: SZENARIS in physiopraxis Magazine

In the April issue of physiopraxis magazine, SZENARIS reports on the results of the “KI-SIGS: Bewegungstraining” project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

From 2020 to 2023, researchers from the Universities of Hamburg and Bremen teamed up with companies to develop a digital exercise training program for elderly people. The potential of virtual exercise games is presented under the title “Playful Training: Exergames in Physiotherapy”.

Lack of exercise is a health risk, especially for older people. Physical activity is crucial when it comes to maintaining mobility, muscles and balance. Exergames are one way of motivating people to exercise. KI-SIGS not only investigated how exergames encourage more movement, but also how they can be integrated into physiotherapy. The focus was on aspects such as movement recognition, motivating game design for elderly people and feedback options. After all, when exercising at home, it is not only important to enjoy the exercise but also to perform it correctly. The article also provides an outlook on the future role of exergames and their impact on physiotherapy.
