SZENARIS Welcomed as a Member of the German Rescue Robotics Center

On October 01, the “Living Lab” of the DRZ e.V. (“Deutsches Rettungsrobotik-Zentrum e.V.”) opened in Dortmund. In the course of this festive event, SZENARIS was also welcomed as a new member.

The competence center, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), enables research and development of mobile robot systems for civil emergency response. The various systems can be tested for their suitability for use in different scenarios in test areas (indoors and outdoors). The center emerged from the efforts of the non-profit association “Deutsches Rettungsrobotik-Zentrum e.V.” (DRZ e.V.). Since 2018, DRZ e.V. has pursued the goal of promoting the development of robotic systems for rescue and protection of people and property, focusing on research and development in the field of rescue robotics and the corresponding vocational training, rescue from life-threatening danger, fire protection, occupational safety, civil protection, and accident prevention. The association also promotes networking between emergency services, users, companies and research institutions.

During the opening speech of the competence center, Dirk Aschenbrenner, head of the Dortmund Fire Department and chairman of the board of DRZ e.V., welcomed SZENARIS Managing Director Dr. Uwe Katzky on behalf of all participating companies. As a company that has been developing simulation solutions for rescue robotics for over 10 years (including training systems for tEODor, telemax, PackBot EOD, Seefuchs), SZENARIS observes the opening of the German Rescue Robotics Center with great excitement and welcomes the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts.
