Moon Jump and Pontoon Boat – SZENARIS Awarded the Comenius EduMedia Seal Twice

On June 23, 2022, the Comenius EduMedia Award for outstanding digital educational media was presented for the 27th time by the Gesellschaft für Pädagogik, Information und Medien e. V. (GPI). SZENARIS had two reasons to celebrate, as both the Moon Jump and Pontoon Boat projects were awarded the coveted Comenius EduMedia Seal for outstanding didactic and media quality.

Moon Jump is a hands-on station for the special exhibition “Up to Space” of the Science Center and hands-on museum Universum® Bremen, which will subsequently be shown in the Science Centers of Paris, Lisbon and Valencia. Visitors are able to put on a harness that uses the resistance of rubber bands to simulate the lower gravity on the moon. At the same time, they can immerse themselves in a virtual lunar landscape with the help of virtual reality goggles, and move and look around. Through the interaction of the components, the “Moon Jump” thus enables extremely realistic moon walks. SZENARIS was responsible for the development and implementation of the virtual reality simulation component and the selection of the hardware for this hands-on station.

In the Pontoon Boat project, SZENARIS was involved in the development of a new multifunctional floating platform for civil defense and disaster control that meets the current hazard situations on watercourses. The pontoon boat system named HYDRA can be used individually as a working or transport boat or coupled as a transport platform or floating bridge. SZENARIS has specially developed a virtual reality visualization system for prototype construction as well as a virtual reality training system for the project, with which the emergency forces can learn how to operate the system in a competence-oriented manner.

SZENARIS Managing Directors Klaus Bock-Müller and Dr. Uwe Katzky were visibly delighted with the awards: “We are proud of our SZENARIS team and the very good cooperation with our customers, which made these awards possible in the first place. We look forward to further exciting projects.”
