In cooperation with the TU Braunschweig, SZENARIS has developed the Virtual Reality game QuantumVR, which provides a playful approach to the world of quantum programming.

Inspired by escape rooms, the task of the player is to free animals by solving puzzles. These puzzles are small quantum algorithms that have to be created using selected quantum gates – elementary operations that a quantum computer performs. As the game progresses, different quantum gates are introduced that have certain associations with the freed animals. The gamification approach and the use of the animals increase the motivation of the learners and create lasting memory aids through their associations. QuantumVR uses visualizations from IBM Quantum Composer, which ensures a high level of connectivity.

The game received the Comenius EduMedia Award in the category “Computer Games with Competence-Enhancing Potential (CKP)” and is available for free on Steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/2089590/QuantumVR/.
